Antique Edwardian Era L’Air de Vie by Herbert A. Wanklyn -
This gorgeous L’Air de Vie by Herbert A. Wanklyn/The Peace Pillow Co. is from 1906-1918, as is completely sealed. It was a lavender- based perfume and toilet-water. Praised for its delicate and delightful aromatic scent, but has proved of value to the subjects of catarrh and other febrile states, which had been much appreciated in hospitals.
The bottle stands just under 5.5" tall and is accented with gilded enamel. The bottle has a ground glass tear drop shaped stopper with hand cut facets which ends in a pointed top. The front features a beautiful paper label with Art Nouveau floral graphics recalling the lavender theme. Also it appears there is still some of the original lavender fragrance inside. Wonderful piece!
This item came from a large collection of rare and high end perfume bottles from a longtime collector in Italy who had a private museum.
